This seminar was hosted by Sensei Bernard Edwards with the Hakua Kai Association. Fumio Demura is a world-renowned Kobudo expert and has choreographed many movies in Hollywood. He has played the stunt double for Pat Morita in the four "Karate Kid" movies. Mr. Demura visits the Bay Area every 6 months to expand the knowledge of Kobudo to Martial Artists in the area. The SKA joined this program to expand the martial arts knowledge of its associates. Members of the SKA who participated in this event were Sensei Ricardo Llewelyn, K. M. Soo-Tho, Mykael Soo-Tho, Cheryl DeFriez, Eric McElhiney, John Kinsey and Rob Jenkins. The Kobudo seminar included a weapons tournament. Mykael Soo-Tho placed 1st in Youth Black Belt competition. Sensei Llewelyn placed 3rd in the Adult Black Belt category. The next Bay Area seminar with Master Demura is scheduled for November 10, 2002. The SKA is anxiously awaiting this event.
